Company History & Growth
The business was founded by George P. Zittnan in 1991 as G. P. Zittnan &
Associates out of his home in Carmel, Indiana. He previously worked for a major
steel service center in Chicago-- first as an inside work order
 specialist
and then getting promoted to an outside sales position in Indianapolis. Before
that he worked for a large steel fabricator as a draftsman and in a machine
shop while working his way through the University of Illinois at Chicago.
In 1997 he moved his business into a small warehouse on the eastside of
Indianapolis and updated the name to Speedway Steel.
In 2005 he relocated to a 3 acre site (25,000 square foot building) at 43rd and Shadeland. The most recent move was in 2023 to a facility at 2413 Yandes Street.
We are located near Interstate 70 making it easy to ship products anywhere in the United States via our fleet of trucks or common carrier.
Speedway Steel only employs hard working seasoned sales people... which holds
true to our motto "Let our experience make the difference".
